Bio Behavioral Health is a comprehensive clinical research site specializing in psychiatry, directed by Dr. Ashok Patel in Toms River, NJ. Our treatment trials range from depression and migraines to Parkinson's Disease, Alzheimer's Disease, and many more.

After over twenty years of memory-related research at Bio Behavioral Health, Dr. Patel established the Memory and Aging Center of New Jersey to provide specialized treatment and support for those affected by memory loss, in our local community and beyond.

Currently, our active trials include novel treatments for depression, migraines, Parkinson’s disease, and Alzheimer’s disease. Ashok Patel, MD

board-certified Geriatric Psychiatrist and Principal Investigator

Dr. Patel has been practicing for over 30 years at Bio Behavioral Health (BBH) in Toms River, New Jersey. He divides his professional time between clinical care and pharmaceutical research, both of which have helped him to develop a strong referral base in the local community. As Medical Director of BBH, Dr. Patel has been the Principal Investigator on over 100 studies in nursing-home, clinic, hospital, and office settings. His training at Cornell University Medical College began his work with Alzheimer’s Disease and Depression, and his experiences have expanded his expertise on Anxiety, Sleep Disorders, Autoimmune Disorders, Arthritis, Pulmonary Disorders, and Bipolar Disorders.

Dr. Patel graduated from Kasturba Medical College in India and completed his psychiatric residency at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in New York, where he went on to become Chief Resident. Following residency, he completed his Fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry at Cornell University Medical College in New York. Dr. Patel has since held faculty positions at both Cornell University Medical College and Robert Wood Johnson Medical School as an Instructor of Psychiatry. He is an active member of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Association of Geriatric Psychiatry, the NJ Psychiatric Association Geriatric Committee and the Indo-American Psychiatric Association. His involvements with these organizations, his clinical care, and his pharmaceutical research have granted him the opportunity to present over 200 presentations covering multiple diseases and psychopharmacology.

Dr. Patel received the 2011-2012 Alzheimer’s Association New Jersey Chapter Humanitarian of the Year Award and the 2014 Arnold P. Gold Foundation Award for skill and compassion in the practice of medicine.
